MTV And The Movie Awards

I am old enough to have witnessed the birth of MTV and remember fondly when the cable net actually played music videos pretty much around the clock. Ahh, those were the days...I'm not ashamed to admit that in my youth, I had a thing for both Martha Quinn and Nina Blackwood--who both worked for the channel at its start.

And then in the 90's, the whole "reality TV" thing gradually took over the network, starting with The Real World, and its never been the same since. Heck, all of TV changed, when that show took off.

You can still see music videos on MTV, if you happen to be channel surfing throughout the wee hours of the morning or on its sister station, MTV2. Still it just isn't the same.

Having complained about the way MTV has changed, and gotten away from its original intention long enough...

I still like to watch the network's Movie Awards Show every year. Its always a fun broadcast, filled with an irreverence and free spirit that the other awards shows just don't have. Fun categories, like Best Frightened Performance and Best On Screen Duo, Movie Parodies, and the award that resembles a movie theater popcorn tub means no long speeches or stuffed shirts explaining how the votes were counted...

The 15th annual MTV Movie Awards ceremony took place last night at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, with the first airing of the show scheduled for this Thursday, June 8 at 9PM ET/PT. If you can't wait till then to find out who won and for what...here are the winners...

I know I'll be tuning in just the same...With cutie Jessica Alba (pictured) hosting how can I resist?
