The Strike-Day 30

The latest as we reach the one month mark:

-Talks resume; A public opinion war update; On the TV side a popular reality show returns early...

Writers bring counteroffer to talks

WGA to respond to AMPTP offer

Talks resume today after a four-day respite, and both writers and the AMPTP are anxious -- but few are optimistic.

Josef Adalian on Variety's strike blog

In the war for public opinion, the WGA and its allies have dominated the viral video front. Since the moment the strike was called, the Internet has been flooded with all sorts of shorts attacking the AMPTP's positions and personalities.

The AMPTP still hasn't mounted much of an organized viral response, but at least one person out there-- someone who goes by the YouTube handle "KimRich09"-- is using the Internet to criticize the WGA. Check out
this spoof of the Mac vs. PCs ads in which scribes are cast as the greedy, rich PCs, while a nameless "behind-the-scenes" type is portrayed as the hip Apple computer.

While KimRich09 scores some zingers at the WGA's expense, let's just say the WGA is in no danger of losing its edge in the viral video war.

-Are ya ready for "Big Brother: The Strike Edition."-(sounds like the title for a DVD doesn't it?]

With hopes for a quick settlement of the WGA strike dimming, CBS is getting ready to unveil a revamped winter sked later this afternoon. One thing's certain: Sked includes an in-season edition of reality hit “Big Brother.”

Ninth installment of the summer staple,
which had been buzzed about for a month, will make its bow Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. The Julie Chen-hosted reality series will also air Wednesday and Sunday nights at 8 p.m....

Stay Tuned...

    Tom, great reporting as usual!

I'd like to suggest in future you title all WGA Strike articles just that - WGA STRIKE or THE WGA STRIKE.

In search engines like Google or Yahoo, this stands out more, since it's more specific you'll have a better chance at readers. It is a few more key strokes, but in long run it will help.

I wasn't sure what the title meant either.

    I'm confused what's going? Who's on strike?
