A mish-mash of stuff...
'Bush' project on the way...
Oliver Stone has set his sights on his next directing project, "Bush," a film focusing on the life and 2 terms of President George W. Bush, and attached Josh Brolin (pictured) to play the title role.
While I think Stone is a talented filmmaker, I find it hard to believe Stone’s film will “fair and balanced.”
Although the director states that he to wants to tell a story about the man’s life, the truth is Stone has been very outspoken about his dislike for the current President. Given that--How objective can you be when the tale turns to politics?
With a year left--of GWB to go--the true history on his term has yet to be written, and thus, its impact is not yet known.
I wonder if Bush were more popular--would Stone even feel the need to this?
-Ryan Gosling (pictured) action star?
Moviehole suggests that he could be taking over the part in a new Jack Ryan flick.
The fifth film in the series would not be based on author Tom Clancy novels. It seems that the studio owns the rights to make films using the character without having to base them on Clancy’s work. They don’t even have to have Clancy’s permission.
I have no problem with Gosling taking up the role--not using Clancy's work as a basis for the project could provide a breath of fresh air. But conversely that could also mean that it has to be twice as good for it to work.
