Golden Hues: Oscar Nominations

Even as strike negotiations resume today, the 80th Annual Academy Award nominations were announced earlier today:

"No Country For Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" lead the nominations race with eight bids apiece, including best picture for both pics.

A couple of things that stand out for me among the list of nominees:

-Casey Affleck gets noticed for his supporting role in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford; but not for his turn in brother Ben's directorial debut Gone Baby, Gone...

-Juno does well of course, but its Best Pic nod means that the "comedy" is probably gonna lose out...

Oscar nominees speak out...Work begins on Oscar telecast...Who And What Got Got Snubed...

Whether the strike is resolved or not--The winners are set to be revealed on Sunday February 24th 2008...
