Peter Facinelli (pictured), Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser have been cast as vampires opposite Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson who star as the two main characters in what the studio hopes will kick start a new franchise..
The movie will chronicle the events in first book, and revolves around Bella Swan (Stewart), a 17-year-old who moves to a small town in Washington state to live with her father. Upon arriving, she meets Edward Cullen (Pattinson), a classmate that is filled with mystery.
Drawn to him, she soon learns his dark secret--the entire Cullen family are creatures of the night. Kellan Lutz , Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene round out the Cullen family.
For Reed (pictured), the film will be a reunion between her and Thirteen director Catherine Hardwicke. The adapted script was penned by Melissa Rosenberg (Step Up)
The movie is set to go into production this month wrapping just ahead of a potential actor's strike this Summer. A 4th quarter 2008 release is hoped for.
As a fan of the vampire myths--I will probably rent this But it really sounds like it would be better suited for TV-ala "Kindred: The Embraced"...
