"Fascinating"

J.J. Abrams is talking Star Trek again--this time to USA Today...

The director's goal with the reboot is for the film to appeal to everyone and that makes total sense...In a feature article titled: ‘Movies to look forward to in 2008′ Abrams is quoted as saying:

"I was not an avid Star Trek fan, I want this to appeal to people who never saw Star Trek or think its days are over".

The director also states that his new Trek will not be like other recent prequels...

BEWARE A POTENTIAL SPOILER

"It won’t suffer from the problem that traditional prequels suffer from: that you know all the characters will live".

That statement, taken at face value, would seem to validate the dual time line plot device rumored back in September of last year...

Speaking of interesting quotes as related to the project...

--Actor Eric Bana (pictured), who plays the film's villian Nero, recently spoke to the Herald Sun about his role in the film-- which he describes to them as a “cameo”.

Bana then added, “It's just a great character, it's J.J. Abrams. It's a really well-written script, great part. Couldn't say no. I don't actually look at the size of parts ever.”

A cameo? How puzzling is that? I find it hard to imagine that Bana would agree to such a small role and still be considered the bad guy...How can the villian be a true villian with say just 2 minutes of screen time?
