"500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb tells /Film that he is developing a big screen adaptation of Tim Tharp book "The Spectacular Now"
Summer scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber will write the script.
It's the story of a 17 year old charmer who drinks too much as he faces growing up.
"It’s a very realistic portrayl of what it’s like to be a kid. And it has a very frank depiction of sex, alcohol and that sort of thing" says Webb.
Webb hasn't decided his next project despite the The Hollywood Reporter and others linking him to the post-apocalyptic drama "Age of Rage".
Don't rush him though--"It’s in the early stages, so I can’t really talk about it because its not written. I don’t even know how it got out there. I wrote a treatment for it and I’m working on the story. [It's] probably going to take a while to get through."
Meantime-Webb is basking in the glow of Summer at Sundance....
