James Wan will co-write and direct the film adaptation of classic video game "Castlevania " says the gang at Bloody Disgusting.
Paul W.S. Anderson. wrote the script and is producing the pic.
The story sees a Transylvanian knight lead his men into a gothic castle to seek refuge from the Turkish army. The knights soon discover the castle is controlled by the original vampire--Vlad the Impaler .
The script sets up a generational clash between Vlad and the Belmont family, a clan that unleashed the original vampire and then battles to defeat him.
Wan: "I'm very fresh on this project, so its early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it. I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami Games is very excited about."
Wan replaces Sylvain White, who was previously set to direct
Meantime- Anderson is set to return to the director's chair for "Resident Evil: Afterlife"says Production Weekly.
Anderson directed the first film in the series but only served as a writer and producer for the two sequels
