The film's script includes a scene with the Professor revealed as linked with the central plot.
Although not essential to the plot (it might be edited out of the pic), Holmes' well known nemesis has a few lines setting up his return in the sequel
MTV asked director Guy Ritchie about it and he confirms that Professor M does appear but keeps quiet about who plays him.
"I don’t know how to answer that other than to say there is some kind of appearance. All will be revealed. I’m afraid I have to be slightly ambiguous about this but you’ll understand what I’m talking about when you see the movie"
He added that no actor is being credited with the role.
That doesn't quiet the the drumbeat does it?
