12-year-old actor Uriah Shelton will headline the indie drama "Lifted" says The Hollywood Reporter.Shelton will star as a singer whose family life is disrupted when his U.S. Marine Corps father is re-deployed to the War in Afghanistan. The boy, despite many obstacles, is inspired to compete in a teen singing competition.
James Handy Anna Marie Dobbins Ruben Studdard and country star Trace Adkins also star.
Lexi Alexander will call action on her script.
Filming will take place in and around Birmingham, Alabama.
