Director Peter Berg has inked a two-picture deal with Universal Pictures reports Variety thus-affecting the release of 2 more of Berg's. high profile films."Battleship" is a live-action adaptation of the Hasbro game. The contemporary story is set amidst an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle.
Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber penned the script and the studio has already set a July 1st 2011 release date. Shooting then kicks off next Spring.
Berg will immediately follow that up with the Afghan war drama "Lone Survivor." for the studio.
As a result of this deal both the "Dune" remake and "Hancock 2" have been put on hold and will be developed later.
Little surprised about the Hancock delay--And Dune for that matter....But it's probably for the best.
