The story is based on the daring $85 million robbery of the Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, England in February 2006 - the largest cash amount stolen in British crime history. The thieves, disguised as police officers, kidnapped the depot manager and his family and were taken to the depot where staff was tied up and locked away. The manager's son was small enough to squeeze through the bars and free the other staff who raised the alarm.
The film 's script is based on both Jon Wertheim's SI magazine article "Breaking the Bank" and Howard Sounes ' nonfiction book "Heist: The Inside Story of the World's Biggest Robbery" which Kerry Williamson is writing.
The story will likely focus on Lee Murray (pictured), a British-Moroccan mixed martial arts fighter who was arrested and jailed in Rabat several months after the robbery for his alleged participation .
