DCE Takes On Marvel

Warner Bros. officially announced that subsidiary DC comics will form a new company - DC Entertainment Inc. It's goal is to "fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms" according to a press release.

Warner Premiere President Diane Nelson, who also oversees the "Harry Potter" film franchise, will head up DC Entertainment and report directly to Warner chief suit Jeffrey Robinov.

It's about frickin' time!

The company's chief rival, Marvel continues to see success when adapting their heroes for the big screen ...While save for Christopher Nolan's Batman films WB/DC struggles with many of it's heroes big screen attempts stuck in development Hell...Those that do make it to the screen--either struggle Watchmen-Superman Returns-or bomb-Hello Catwoman anyone?

Deadline Hollywood Daily recently reported that the studio has quietly moved to 'call back' the high profile DC films in development.

That move essentially ends their oversight and gross participant shares on these projects and lets the studio (rather than the producers) have much more control over their properties and more importantly who profits off them.

The currently in production adaptation of the The Losers will be the last of the pre-DCE flicks WB will release.

The Green Lantern and Lobo would be released under the new co. Superman: Man of Steel FINALLY might get some traction...
