Pamela McClintock of Variety has a box office update....
The long Labor Day weekend saw plenty of traffic at the multiplex in a fitting end to a record-breaking summer at the domestic B.O. that saw a number of titles overperform.
Holdovers "The Final Destination" in 3-D and "Inglourious Basterds" took spots No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
From Warner Bros./New Line, "Destination" grossed $15.4 million for the four day holiday weekend, bringing pic's cume to $50.6 million in its first 10 days. Overseas, the film's cume through Sunday was $31.1 for a worldwide total of $81.7 million.
Weinstein Co.'s "Inglourious Basterds," grossed an impressive $15.1 million for the four days. Cume through Monday was $95.2 million, making it Quentin Tarantino's second top domestic grosser after "Pulp Fiction."
Pic's international cume through Sunday was $83.3 for a global haul of $178.2.
"Basterds" was the top pic on Sunday the domestic B.O.
There was still business left over for new entries "All About Steve" and "Gamer."
Sandra Bullock-Bradley [Cooper] comedy "All About Steve," from 20th Century Fox, placed No. 3 for the long holiday weekend, grossing $13.9 million from 2,251 theaters. Film came in on the higher end of expectations.
Lionsgate's Gerard Butler actioner "Gamer" grossed $11.2 million from 2,502 runs in its debut.
Miramax's Mike Judge laffer "Extract" had a tougher time, placing No. 10 for the sesh in grossing $5.3 million from 1,611 runs.
And so the sun sets on Summer '09 at the box office....
