Rebecca De Mornay will star as the evil mother in Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day remake according to the Hollywood Reporter
Bousman says of her landing the title role. “Every time you look at (Rebecca), she is on fire, and to take her to this level, which is like her role in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, times a thousand, is exciting. ...it was important for me to get a real actress.”
Like the 1980 horror flick from Charles Kaufman that inspired it Scott Milam's script follows a a vicious, violent family, with a sadistic mother who instructs her sons to kill.
Also just cast in the pic are Patrick Flueger (Kill Theory) playing one of Mother's sons, "Ike", and Tony Nappo (Saw II) to play a character named Dave
The cast also includes Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Matt O'Leary, Lyriq Bent Lisa Marcos. and Deborah Ann Woll.
Wow! What cool casting sure De Mornay has “Risky Business” and The Three Musketeers on her resume...Now this one...This sealed the deal...A horror remake that I'm actually looking forward to.
Filming is set to start next week in Winnipeg
