O'Neal will play a former queen of the New York underground scene who, after moving to small-town New Jersey, gets caught up in local politics when her ex-lover becomes the mayor.

The story follows real-life engineer-turned-teacher Simon Hauger who inspired a bunch of troubled West Philadelphia high school students to win a competition to build an alternative-fuel vehicle.

Using an "unorthodox curriculum" to improve students' performance in math and science, the kids beat teams from top universities with their electric cars in the national green car competition Tour del Sol.

*Stuart Hazeldine has written a screenplay for a film adaptation of author John Christopher's classic British sci-fi trilogy "The Tripods" saying that Alex Proyas will most likely produce and potentially direct the project according to Digital Spy.

The story follows three teens fleeing from alien conquerors dwelling in three-legged machines who enslaved humans with mind-control devices implanted in the brain.

Previously adapted by the BBC in the 1980's on TV the series gained a cult following but was cancelled after its second season, failing to bring the last of the books to the screen.

Hazeldine indicates his script is based on the first book alone and should the film be a success, the plan is to adapt the remaining two.

The story will be loosely based on the gritty crime novel that revolves around a group of retired New York City cops who form a renegade unit to bring down the most vicious criminals in Gotham.

Bruckheimer has been developing the project since 1997 when he picked up the rights from Carcaterra
