Tom Wilkinson, Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline, Alexis Bledel and Toby Kebbell have joined the cast of now filming Robert Redford directed period drama "The Conspirator says VarietyBased on true events following the Abraham Lincoln assassination the story follows Mary Surrattt (Robin Wright Penn), the only woman among a group charged with conspiring to kill the president. Frederick A. Aiken (James McAvoy,) an idealistic young war hero who reluctantly defends Surratt and in the process comes to believe she is innocent.
Evan Rachel Wood is said to be playing Wright Penn's daughter Anna Surratt, while Kebbell has been cast as the assassin John Wilkes Booth.
Wilkinson is Aiken's mentor, senator Reverdy Johnson, who sympathises with Surratt. Bledel plays Aiken's wife, and Kline is Edwin M. Stanton, Lincoln's war secretary
Justin Long was cast earlier this week as Aiken's best friend, a one-armed Civil War veteran.
Redford's assembled quite a cast for this intriging pic.
Filming began on Monday Savannah, Georgia.
