New Line Cinema and ESPN will team up to produce the inspirational sports biopic "Mulkey" reports Variety.
The story follows firefighter Louis Mulkey, who was an assistant high school basketball coach in South Carolina before he and eight others perished in a 2007 fire at a Charleston furniture store.
The Charleston Fire Department presented the team with a custom memorial fire helmet, which was placed on the bench for each of the team's games in the following season - which saw the team win its first-ever state championship.
Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele, who partnered on Michael Mann’s Ali, are penning the script.
Mike Tollin (Radio, Summer Catch) is attached to call the shots.
Goosebumps Anybody?
