Satisfy The Hunger

Earlier today Oscar nominees: Jennifer Lawrence ("Winter's Bone"), Hailee Steinfeld ("True Grit") and Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine"). were in the running for the lead role in "The Hunger Games" film adaption as reported in Variety.

By the afternoon Entertainment Weekly also added Chloe Moretz, Emma Roberts, Saoirse Ronan, Lyndsy Fonseca, Emily Browning, Shailene Woodley, and Kaya Scodelario to the mix

The project is based on the Suzanne Collins novel series which have developed a major following across all ages and is said to potentially be the 'next Twilight'.

The first in a planned trilogy, the story involves a young love triangle playing out against a dystopian future where North America has been divided into twelve oppressed districts, each of which is forced to send tribute in the form of a boy and a girl to compete in a televised battle to the death once a year.

Lawrence was said to be up for the role described as a woman between 15 and 20. The catch is the age of whomever they hire because once the decision has been made, it will affect the audience demographic and more importantly the rest of the film's casting. And the studio suits told EW that  "there are no frontrunners at this point."  Lawrence is 20, Steinfeld and Breslin are 14. Should they cast younger, it will be trickier finding a male lead and of course all three Oscar actresses  have busy schedules.

Collins adapted the screenplay which Billy Ray has re-written. Gary Ross will helm,

Whatever way the casting goes the film is due out March 23rd, 2012.
