“Avatar” Sequels to Shoot in… Manhattan Beach?

That’s right. The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive that director James Cameron “signed a lease for studio and office space at MBS Media Campus in Manhattan Beach.” This area will be utilized for much of the filming of the two Avatar sequels. If all goes according to plan, his studio and offices would be in one place, close to his home in Malibu.

In short, production for the two sequels would seemingly be both quicker and easier to navigate. However, it’s still uncertain whether or not live-action scenes will be shot in New Zealand, as is what happened in the original film.

How do you feel about this change of filming locations?
