“Insidious” is 2011’s Most Profitable Film So Far

The horror flick Insidious scared audiences in the United States and around the world. It also seem like it’ll be this year’s biggest film in regards to profitability.

The film was made for less than $1.5 million; The Hollywood Reporter relays that if it pulls in $80 to $90 million worldwide, it could be the most profitable film of the year from a cost-to-gross standpoint.

It’s interesting to parallel this with the success of Paranormal Activity, another film that grossed heftily, even with an extremely small budget.
