MGM’s “Bond 23” Co-Financed by Sony; “Bond 24” Announced

Many were surprised when MGM announced Bond 23, the tentative title for the next James Bond film.

Even more surprising may be that the studio has gone on to confirm another Bond feature a year and a half before “23” even hits theaters.

Well, there is sense to be made of it all. THR relays that Sony will help MGM to distribute and finance both films; likewise, MGM might help financially with the Sony-produced adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

It’s a risky move for the studios, considering MGM’s financial difficulties as of late. Still, here’s hoping that the franchise can return to a stable place.
