Despite picking up a much-deserved Oscar nomination in 2006, Eddie Murphy hasn’t been so lucky over the past several years. He’s all but faded from the limelight, and his most recent ventures – the Brian Robbins-helmed comedies Meet Dave and Norbit – were flops with critics and audiences.
For whatever reason, Murphy reunited with Robbins in 2008 for A Thousand Words, which focuses on a man who will die after speaking his next thousand words. Audiences at test screenings panned the film, so Paramount has been sketchy about releasing it.
According to /Film, though, the film finally has its own release date: January 13, 2012. No surprise, it was reported that some of the film was reshot earlier this year, but we still have nothing to go on other than the names of Murphy and Robbins. Well, since that’s the case, we really *do* have nothing to go on.
Murphy has more acting chops than most comedians (Adam Sandler), but his recent work is still terrible. I’m hoping he gets out of this rut soon, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for A Thousand Words.
