Summer 2013 has had more than its share of box office, shall I say disappointments...Among them Guillermo del Toro sci-fi action epic "Pacific Rim". Despite solid reviews, the film landed in
in 3rd place for its debut, a few weeks ago.
In the United States, the $180 million budgeted flick made a disappointing $84 million. While the film's foreign haul of $140 million has made up for much of the shortfall, the chances for Pacific Rim 2 are pretty slim.
The Chicago Tribune indicates that the fate of part 2 will depend upon on how the movie does in China where it opens this week. China is considered the film's most significant international market.
