Paul Walker: Cause Of Death; Fast 7 On Hold

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has released the cause of death of actor Paul Walker who was killed last weekend in a car crash.

Walker died from "traumatic injuries" and burn injuries, while the car's driver Roger Rodas died from "multiple traumatic injuries." Both deaths have been ruled as accidental.

This comes as Universal announced earlier today that production on James Wan's "Fast & Furious 7"  has officially been put on indefinite hold. Here's the statement:

"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers. At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it. Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."

The Wrap reports that the film's producers are considering scrapping the entire film and starting over.

While the production is more than halfway finished, many of Walker’s key scenes still had to be shot so different options are still being discussed. Since the studio is insured for unexpected losses, scrapping the film is not out of the question.

One potential option would be to start over, potentially even removing Walker’s character if assembling the already-filmed elements as part of a new storyline proves more difficult than just starting something new.

A final decision on the film is still days if not weeks away as the parties involved "wanted to get the movie right and not rush a decision."

Whatever the case, it now seems that the July 11th 2014 release date is gonna be moved but Universal won't give it up if it can be avoided
