Anne Fletcher ("The Guilt Trip," "The Proposal," "Step Up") is in talks to direct the comedy "Don't Mess With Texas" says Variety.
David Feeney and John Quaintance wrote the script about a cop (Reese Witherspoon) and a prisoner (Sofia Vergara) on the run in Texas, with crooked cops in hot pursuit.
Universal Pictures won the rights to the project in a bidding war last June but let them lapse. MGM picked then up after the pic went into turnaroud and is fully financing.
Witherspoon Bruna Papandrea and Dana Fox will produce the film.
