A few things to say here:
Host Ellen DeGeneres had a great opening monologue--really funny...but most of the other bits could have been shorter--12 minute pizza delivery gag was the low point....(Oscars Pizza Delivery Guy Gets $1,000 Tip) I am convinced the Academy is not really concerned with how long the ceremony is....Long comedic bits aside I am glad that the winners were given the chance to give their speeches without getting shooed off the stage by the orchestra...
Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o gave the best acceptance speech of the night... She Says of Oscar Win, 'Midnight Came and This Did Not Disappear'
Conversely, Best Actress Winner Cate Blanchett, whose work I love, gave the worst acceptance speech
