The Wrap says that Baz Luhrmann is in talks to direct a biopic about iconic singer Elvis Presley for Warner Bros.
The studio has secured rights to all musical components in Presley's catalog for
this project which will not be based on any pre-existing material.
Kelly Marcel ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Saving Mr. Banks") is writing the script bur it's unclear which periods of Presley's life the film will concentrate on.
Gail Berman is producing the biopic.
It's expected Luhrmann's wife Catherine Martin will come on board as costume designer and potentially production designer.
Luhrmann is also developing the film adaptation of the 1970s martial arts TV series "Kung Fu" for Legendary Pictures and it's unclear which one of these two pics be his immediate next project following last year's "The Great Gatsby".
