While attending the Variety Entertainment and Technology Summit this week, "Guardians of the Galaxy" writer-director James Gunn revealed
some fresh details about Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
He confirmed to Variety that all five of the main cast will return Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel . Joining them will be a number of
unspecified characters from the first movie and a few new characters as
well, and Gunn says "fans may see the team adding members."
In terms of writing the sequel, Gunn says: "I spent all day on Aug.
1, the day the first movie was released, writing Guardians. I was so
excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and
begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one
story."
The director says that the alternate version of the Rocket Raccoon "fake
laugh" scene will be included on the Blu-ray on December 9th:
"In the
long version of the scene where Rocket is laughing at Quill, Quill gets
very offended by that and takes a vote of the other Guardians to see who
thinks that the laugh is fake. It's a pretty fake laugh, and I think
Rocket gets hurt that Groot goes against him."
It's expected that the sequel will provide the answers to a few secrets from the first film--like the foreshadowing of a
certain character's father playing a part in the action.
Marvel will release the "Guardians 2" on July 28th 2017.
