French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo will direct "Leatherface," the next film in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series in development at Millennium Films says The Wrap. The pair are said to have beaten out "Starry Eyes" filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer
for the job
The movie will be the eighth overall entry in the franchise and is sharing the same title as the 3rd film in the series. This one will serve as a
prequel to Tobe Hooper's original 1974 classic and explore the origins of
the character--focusing on his teenage years.
Genre screenwriter Seth M. Sherwood has signed on to write the
script.
Carl Mazzocone, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are producing the pic.
I know I'm in the minority here but I really enjoyed the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning from '06; Both films were improvements over The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 in 1986 1990's Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 and the more recent Texas Chainsaw 3D
