Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant are attached to star in "Florence," a biopic about Florence Foster Jenkins says Deadline.
Jenkins (Streep) was a New York heiress and socialite who wanted a career as a
great opera singer, but lacked any real ability - in fact her voice
was pretty terrible. The film will cover Jenkins life up
until her 1944 Carnegie Hall concert which sold 3,000 tickets, she then
died a month later
Grant will play her partner and manager St. Clair Bayfield. Bayfield was an aristocratic English actor
determined to protect Florence from the truth.
Nicholas Martin penned the script from which Stephen Frears will direct
Michael Kuhn and Tracey Seaward will produce the movie.
