Uwais will play the leader of an underground resistance that forms after aliens touch down on earth. Frank Grillo plays a father looking for his abducted child.
Uwais "Raid" co-star Yayan Ruhian also stars--the pair will act as fight choreographers on the film.
Liam O'Donnell is directing the pic using the script that he wrote.
Greg Strause and Colin Strause, who helmed the first film, will produce the sequel with Matthew Chausse and Mike Wiluan.
Production begins in Indonesia in early December.
