Oscar-nominated scribe Terry Rossio has been hired to redraft the action adventure "Yucatan" which is being molded as a potential starring vehicle for Robert Downey Jr says Deadline.
Based on a 1700-page treatment written by iconic actor Steve McQueen in the late 1960s, the story involved a renegade salvage expert's search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatán Peninsula
Rossio and RDJ are going to be using the original premise as a jumping-off point for a mind-bending adventure story.
Rossio takes over from Anthony Peckham who penned the previous draft of the script.
