Ridley Scott Will NOT Direct Blade Runner 2

Ridley Scott is no longer going to helm the in the pipeline Blade Runner Sequel.

While chatting with Variety, Scott confirmed he is still on board to produce the film with Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin. Production will take place sometime next year.

Original "Blade Runner" co-scribe Hampton Fancher had been at work on the script for new film. Scott Z. Burns was in talks to write the script at one point. Now Green Lantern co-writer Michael Green has been hired to take on the job of  reworking the script

Fancher and David Peoples adapted the script for the 1982 sci-fi classic based upon author Philip K. Dick's story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Recently Scott reportedly indicated that the script is done and  he confirms Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard character is a part of the action:

"We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one. Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it's about finding him; he comes in in the third act."

Scott is gearing up for cameras to roll on "The Martian" which will take up much of his time next year and then he moves on to Prometheus 2 in late 2015/early 2016. "Blade Runner 2" is  also slated to film next year, the scheduling has always seemed a bit muddled --something had to give .
