Warner Bros has released a clever new trailer for the upcoming sequel "Magic Mike XXL".
Steven Soderbergh's longtime assistant director Gregory Jacobs ("Criminal," "Wind Chill") took over the helm of the film. Jacobs served as both assistant director and producer on the first "Magic Mike,"
while Soderbergh will stay on as an executive producer director of
photography, camera operator and film editor for the sequel. Star Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin penned the script for the second film.
Tatum told GQ
that the sequel sees Mike and some of the others heading out on a road
trip tour of stripper conventions. Here's the film synopsis:
"Picking
up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at
the top of his game, 'Magic Mike XXL' finds the remaining Kings of
Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it
their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in
Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the
spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle
stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make
new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the
past in surprising ways."
Tatum, Matt Bomer Joe Manganiello Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and comedian Gabriel Iglesias are back--joined by newcomers Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Strahan .
"Magic Mike XXL" is set for release on Wednesday, July 1st 2015.
