Come Ride On The Sin City Casting Carousel

Angelina Jolie (pictured above) out? Rachel Weisz in? Jolie has been long rumored to be up for a pivotal role in Sin City 2...That may no longer be the case

Stax of Filmforce has the latest

Has director Robert Rodriguez finally gotten sick of waiting for Angelina Jolie's schedule to clear so he can make Sin City 2? According to the rumor mill, the helmer has opted to move ahead with a different Oscar-winning actress.

Rodriguez is reportedly trying to land Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, The Fountain) as Jolie's replacement. According to a scooper for CinemaBlend.com, "Rachel is in talks with Robert Rodriguez's people about taking on the role of Ava Lord, the titular Dame to Kill For in the original comic on which Sin City 2 is going to be based."

If Weisz is indeed in the project then Sin City 2 could finally begin shooting by 2008.

The site cautions, however, that it heard this rumor from an anonymous source so it can't verify the accuracy of their claim.

Film Ick, however, claims they have heard that Rose McGowan and not Weisz is up for the part. McGowan recently worked with Robert Rodriguez in Grindhouse.

As much I like the work of Rose McGowan... Knowing the character as seen in the graphic novel the way do I think Weisz (pictured above) makes for a better replacement. Whatever happens and whoever gets the role, I hope Rodriguez can get the ball rolling on the sequel soon, over at Troublemaker Studios. It's really quite ridiculous that it's taken so long to begin shooting the sucker--considering how fast the first film made it through page to screen.
