The tale concerns an ancient idol is discovered underground and then transported to a zoo in the U.S. There, the idol's spirit awakens and starts to mutate the caged animals.
A group of teenagers band together to try and stop the transformations from destroying the world. The book will be published in May by Image Comics.
The project sounds like it's right up Raimi's alley to direct--following Drag Me to Hell and unless he is coaxed to helm Spider-Man 4.
