Award-winning writer William Monahan ("The Departed") is in discussions to adapt and produce an American version of the Korean thriller The Chaser"as reported in Variety:
Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured) is said to be interested in taking the lead role. He would play an ex-cop who is on a frantic search trying to find a missing girl. The missing person is being used by a serial killer to taunt the cops. The story is loosely based on the exploits of a real-life serial killer.
Warner Bros. landed the rights to the adaptation.
The original directed by Na Hong-jin, is a hit in Korea, grossing more than $20 million in just three weeks time.
Monahan certainly has the skills to make this work as a script. And DiCaprio responds well to material like this as seen in The Departed...
I'll be watching this project closely...
Wow another movie for leo. He has lots of movies coming out that i can not keep track of all the movies he has coming out. I am going to have to see all of these movies. I think that this is leos year to win an OSCAR!!!! GO LEO
