Love Hurts

This is actually a surprise...

Summit Entertainment and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke have officially announced that the filmmaker will not be directing the sequel "New Moon".

Despite weak reviews, the box-office for the first film has exceeded all expectations.

Officially the reason behind the split is being explained as a matter of timing - Summit has outlined an aggressive time frame to get the sequel out by late 2009/early 2010.

The schedule "does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen" says Summit suit and CEO Rob Friedman.

Unofficially though, Deadline Hollywood Daily hears from a source that "Summit didn't like her. They're saying the Director Of Photography Elliot Davis is the one responsible for the film's sumptuous visual look, that the editor Nancy Richardson had to save the film in post-production."

OUCH!!

Anne Thompson of Variety says problems in the negotiations began when Hardwicke 's strong opinions began to conflict with Summit's

DOUBLE OUCH!!

Let the new director search begin...

This is gonna make the looming French press tour for Twilight very interesting.
