Growing Into A Role

Despite noise to the contrary, 16-year-old actor Taylor Lautner is set to reprise the role of Jacob Black in "New Moon "-the sequel to Twilight" reports Variety.

In an announcement on Wednesday-the studio and director Chris Weitz said the actor was "emotionally right" for the part and has been spending time in the gym, trying to add 19 pounds of muscle to his frame.

The Jacob Black character becomes a central figure in the story as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is drawn into the world of the werewolves, the ancestral enemies of vampires.

"The characters... go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series".

Michael Copon and Ben Barnes pushesd for the role when word leaked a few weeks back that the studio was looking for an older actor as Jacob.

As one if the biggest films last year and assured franchises Lautner's dedication is understandable.
