Generational Issues

The rumors began at WonderCon 2009 over the weekend, now though, Trek Movie confirms that none of the ""Star Trek: The Next Generation" characters will appear in J.J. Abrams' upcoming reboot Star Trek flick in May.

This all started out of a panel with the writers of the prequel comic Tim Jones and Mike Johnson. The story starts off in 2379 after the last film--"Star Trek: Nemesis", leading up to the events in the new movie which look set mostly in the 2250's.

One of the writers implied part of the movie will take place with some of the TNG crew, but quickly followed up on that saying "I really cannot say anything about that".

Sources close to the May 8th flick have since denied any such cameos from any spin-off cast members.

I think what the scribe meant to say that the film takes place TNG time Not crew. He quickly realized his error and...I can't imagine cameos of any sort staying a secret anyway per Trek.

We already know-- The film will start off with the film's villain Nero (Eric Bana) and the elder . Spock (Leonard Nimoy) in the post-Nemesis time of 2387 before traveling back in time to interact with the younger versions of the original crew.

SPOILER ALERT!!

The prequel comic, which hits shelves as a trade-paperback next month, brings out the villain's backstory, his relationship with Spock, and what Spock has been up to since he was last seen. in the TNG" two-parter 'Unification ' in which he was on Romulus as an Ambassador and in charge of an underground movement to reunify the Vulcan and Romulan races. Still on Romulus as the film opens Spock tries to warn the empire of an impending natural disaster.
