Scroll Goes Pop?

Leonardo DiCaprio is considering casting Japan's SMAP pop musical group as the main leads for his proposed live-action adaptation of Yoshiaki Kawajiri’s 1993 anime classic Ninja Scroll. says The Anime News Network.

DiCaprio's expressing intention to "cast with Japanese people."

The five members of SMAP — Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Goro Inagaki and Shingo Katori have already acted in several tv series and films based on manga and anime since the band was founded but have not acted together in the same project since Shoot in 1994.

The original anime tale was about a wandering ninja fighting a conspiracy of demons.
