Disney’s Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds topliner “The Proposal” smooched its way to No. 1 at the domestic box office, grossing an estimated $34.1 mil from 3,056 theaters to earn Bullock the best opening of her career and satisfy the pent-up demand for a romantic comedy.

Sony’s Jack Black-Michael Cera comedy “Year One” placed No. 4 in its debut. Directed by Harold Ramis, laffer grossed an estimated $20.2 million from 3,022 runs.

Holdovers “The Hangover,” from Warner Bros., and Disney-Pixar’s 3-D toon “Up” continued their marathon run, placing No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

“Hangover,” which had won the B.O. race the previous two weekends, slipped only 18% in its third sesh to gross an estimated $26.9 million from 3,545 theaters for a boffo cume of $152.9 million.

Disney-Pixar’s 3-D toon “Up” declined 31% in its fourth frame to gross an estimated $21.3 million from 3,832 runs for a cume of $224.1 million.

“Up” is coming close to surpassing Paramount’s “Star Trek,” the most successful films of the year at the domestic B.O...“Star Trek” grossed $239.4 million through Sunday.
