Kim Basinger is in talks to play Zac Efron's grief stricken mom in Burr Steers' upcoming drama The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud says Variety.

Based on Ben Sherwood's book, the story follows Charlie (Efron) a young nan who feels responsible for his brother Sam's death. Soon he starts to see Sam in ghostly form every week at the cemetery where he works as a groundskeeper

Playing Efron's love interest is Amanda Crew

Charlie Tahan will play Sam.

Craig Pearce wrote the first draft of the script which was then rewritten by Steers.

Marc Platt is producing.

Basinger was great in both "Cellular" and "The Sentinel" I'm glad she's back. She should do quite well here with what sounds like a very dramatic supporting role.
