The Weinstein Company has pushed back the release date of Rob Marshall's musical Nine by four weeks moving the film into prime Oscar consideration reports Variety.
Originally slated for a November 25th platform release, the film will now open in New York and Los Angeles on December 18th followed by a wide release on Christmas Day.
The move also takes the film out of direct competition with Weinstein Co.'s post-apocalyptic drama John Hillcoat's"The Road" which opens November 25th.
Based on Federico Fellini 's 8½ the update stars Daniel Day-Lewis Nicole Kidman Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz about a director confronting a midlife crisis while juggling the various women in his life.
Duh! Why were two Weinstein films were ever scheduled for the same day in the first place...Again Duh!
