The producers behind National Treasure have bought the rights to remake the Korean gangster drama A Dirty Carnival

Never Back Down writer Chris Hauty is attached to adapt the 2006 film reports Variety.

The story follows the rise and emotional decline of a small-time hoodlum, who collects debts for a Korean triad but is also burdened by his family's own financial problems.

Hauty's script for Never was solid--for the type of film that it was--This Scarface-esque tale should provide him with more of a challenge though.
