Mia, Michael, and Jane

Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland") and Michael Fassbender ("Jonah Hex," "Inglourious Basterds") are in talks to join Jane Eyre says Variety.

Based on Charlotte Brontë's classic novel the new adaptation emphasizes the gothic elements of the story about Jane (Wasikowska), a demure governess who discovers her surly employer Rochester (Fassbender) is harboring a dark secret.

Cary Fukunaga, who recently won the Best Director award at Sundance for his debut feature, Sin Nombre is calling action from a script by Moira Buffini.

The new version of Eyre is scheduled to be released sometime in 2011.
