Going Nuts

The classic holiday tale The Nutcracker is getting remade-- action/adventure style as reported a few weeks ago on the Heat Vision blog.

The story centered on a 12-year old girl who, with her brother and sister, receive gifts from their clockmaker-inventor godfather on Christmas Eve, one of which was a Nutcracker doll.

That night, the girl begins an adventure that includes a war involving a seven-headed Mouse King and his army of mice, curses and themes of ugliness and beauty.

Darren Lemke sold the pitch which reimagines the story first penned by E. T. A. Hoffmann in 1816 and later made famous by composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Wikipedia and his musical ballet interpretation in 1892.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will be producing the pic.

Not into ballet at all but that's probably more famous then the book on which it is based....As an action tale? Certainly an interesting way to go.
