Captive's Story

Kathryn Bigelow ("The Hurt Locker") and Terrence Malick ("The New World," "The Thin Red Line") seem to both be circling "Held by the Taliban" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will adapt a five-part The New York Times series about journalist David S. Rohde's experience as a captive of the Taliban in Afghanistan for seven months. He and two Afghan colleagues were kidnapped as they traveled to an interview with a Taliban commander outside of Kabul.

Stephen Belber ("Management") is attached to adapt while Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the pic

It will be shopped to studios shortly.

Bigelow is NOT attached despite reports. She has only expressed interest in the articles.

Malick's saying he wants to act as a producer and pitch his take on the material to buyers.

Further details are expected in a few days.
