Akira On Again

Albert and Allen Hughes are apparently in negotiations to direct the sputtering Leonardo DiCaprio produced live-action remake of the manga and anime classic "Akira" reports Vulture.

The last time anyone checked Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, were working on the film's latest draft of the script

Gary Whitta had previously worked on it as well.

The plan at the time was to adapt all six volumes of Katsuhiro Ôtomo's epic 1982 manga rather than just the first two which made up the ground-breaking 1988 anime film.

The idea is to adapt the property as two separate two-hour films, each made up of three volumes of the manga.

Production could kick off as early as by year's end.

Ylkes! again! I guess this means no Apes reboot for the Hughes boys
